Welcome to Sugar Mountain Community Association
The Sugar Mountain Community Association (SMCA) is a neighborhood social organization for Sugar Mountain property owners and others who wish to participate in our activities. Being a member of the SMCA means you will be part of a group with a genuine interest in enhancing the enjoyment of our beautiful mountain and the opportunity to get to know your neighbors.
Throughout the summer, the SMCA has monthly, casual dinners where members have the opportunity to socialize with their neighbors. These are held at J. Douglas Williams Park off of Sugar Mountain Drive. Regular activities include a monthly Book Club, a weekly Game Night, and a weekly ‘Lunch Bunch’ where a group goes to a local restaurant. Other events for members have included: excursions to a local winery, a trip to Wiseman’s View to observe the Brown Mountain Lights, and a road trip to the Dark Sky Observatory.
Welcome to our website
The SMCA has an Annual Meeting & Dinner. During this event, we have a guest speaker. Past guest speakers have included Jesse Pope, President, Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation; Ray Russell, founder of Ray’s Weather; and Jay Leutze, author of Stand Up That Mountain. The Sugar Mountain Community Association also represents all property owners’ interests to the Sugar Mountain Village Council, whether those owners are full-time or part-time residents. Members of our Board of Directors attend Village Council meetings.
